Bridgeview's Open House & MRAC Art Show

At this event there was a Mexican buffet, music and a chance to purchase custom greeting cards and works of art created by the talented artists of Bridgeview. Proceeds from art sold directly benefited the artists. Bridgeview is a Dropin Center for people with Serious and Persistant Mental Illness. MRAC (Metropolitan Regional Arts Council) awarded a grant to Bridgeview in 2014. The Grant Dollars funded seven guest artists, and much needed art supplies and other art projects.

The art show went well. It was very encouraging to me,  I am thankful  for the kind words and love and support and for everyone who came out! I felt like a loved excited little kid!!!!!

WILD NIGHTS

This is a functional piece that can be used to hold jewelry or keys or whatever your hearts desire!!! Unfortunately I didn't get a very good picture of it because I had it displayed on a easel because I wasn't allowed to put any nails in the wall at the time. Use your imagination!!!

I had great fun distressing the wood pieces in different ways. This was really a work in progress, never knowing where it would take me. I have never been that free before letting a piece just guide me. I am finding I really enjoy working with wood!

Double Ruffle Baby Blanket

My neice Jazmine is having a baby, actually right now she is overdue and the baby is expected any day now. Awhile back she asked me to make a pair of grey and yellow striped boots for her baby. I said I would. But of course I wanted to make a matching baby blanket of some sort!!! This time I couldnt rely on my trusty dusty beautiful baby blanket pattern I usually use because it only looks right with one color and Im getting bored with it no matter how pretty it is! So I went in search of a pattern. I didnt like any, so I peiced together three patterns and made my "own" version of a blanket, I say own loosely! I was well pleased. It was hard to put away perfectionism and see where the blanket would take me and what I would have to do with it next with what patterns and had to reach where I was going when I didnt know where I was going. Soon I can post a picture of baby girl in wrapped in it!!!!

The Three Patterns I took from were:

The Main Body Of The Blanket I took from Here.

The Double Ruffle Idea I took from Here.

Baby Boots-ies

Made my first baby boots (first shoes at all) in crochet!!!! One I made perfect and the other one not so perfect, lol. I didnt feel like undoing the one boot that didnt match so well because I plain didnt want to and because I wanted to get started and finished with the blanket!!! LOL! My Niece Jazmine said they were perfect she is overdue with her first baby a little girl, coming any day now. As long as she was pleased, its so hard not being a perfectionist. I really should have though redone the other boot. I took the picture in a way you cant tell!!!!!

Aren't the buttons so cuuuuuute!!!!

I found the pattern here and changed the color that the
mom wanted me to use so it could match the baby's bedroom!!!!

I Love Her!!!

I'm new to painting, its been a little over a year now. Other artists I have a question for you. Do you ever paint something and when you see it coming together near the end, squeal and tell the painting you love it, like really oh I love you, or oh I love her?!?!?!?!?!?

I used my new white gel pen!!! I love it.
Probally gonna be using it alot now!!!

Look at the sides of the painting, how cute!!!!!

Not Canvas

I usually paint on canvas. I have been doing paintings on Canson Mixed Media Pads lately. I haven't been able to get into the whole art journaling thing because I am too much of a perfectionist and I want the ability to hang my work if something turns out and not have it stuck in a book. But as you know then I don't as freely experiment as one would do knowing canvas is a bigger deal. So I decided to paint on the mixed media pads. Still not sure. Has anyone else had these problems with perfectionism and feeling you have to make something grand each time?

Certificate and Ribbon Fun

So as I posted before I won Honorable Mention for a mixed media piece I did and put into the Artability Art show a while back. Honorable Mention I found out is like third place without getting the cash prize that first and second place get! So I finally recieved them in the mail today, they had forgot to send them out to me. I felt like a robbed little child I wanted my ribbon, especially cuz Im just starting out and have only been painting for a year. Can anybody relate!!! LoL. So that child in me wants to share it with you guys!!!!!
